CROP Walk
The date for the 2012 CROP Walk has been set! We will be
walking on May 19th. We are adding a new element of service to
this event this year to celebrate 25 years of the CROP Walk in Kirkland.
That morning, walkers will meet at the Kirkland Northshore Hopelink to
sort some of the large amount of food expected from the national letter
carrier's food drive from the weekend before. This will be a
fun way for members of various KIN congregations to get to know one
another and to provide a much needed service for the food bank.
Your KIN representative will have more information on signing up to walk
in the next few weeks so stay tuned.
Alternative Holiday Gift Fair
This year the alternative gift fair was a resounding success. The
fair was held in a beautiful new building at Holy Family Catholic.
The space was large and gave the non-profit groups in attendance plenty
of room. The fair raised
$21,511.71 !
We were thrilled
with the results and that so many folks could give an environmentally
responsible and meaningful gift to their loved ones and the groups and
agencies present could get their message out to so many in our
community.
Produce for Thanksgiving
Once again KIN congregations collected produce and various
other holiday food items for the Kirkland/Northshore Hopelink food bank.
Together we provided fresh fruit and vegetables along with other
traditional foods for over 1100 households in the area. Sharring
God's bounty with others is a tremendous way to show how truly thankful
we are.
Back to School Drive
Last year KIN, through the
support of our member congregations and the help of other collaborating
organizations was able to assist over 250 kids with school supplies.
This allowed these low income students to start the school year off
right so they can focus on learning and reaching their full potential. |
